Only a few days until the Canberra Show. The first big show of the new year.
It’s always a great couple of days of judging, catching up with friends and checking out the new junior alpacas.

Watch out for the results of the fleece competition, hopefully our region can win the Fleece Region of the Year!
What could we spend the $500 prize on? Any ideas?

We are saddened by the news of the passing of Diane Condon yesterday.
As a founding member of the AAA and a leading breeder of Alpacas, Di’s impact on the Australian Alpaca industry could not be underestimated.
She loved showing her animals and had great sucess in the ring including the Supreme Champion Huacaya at the recent AAA National Show

Our thoughts are with Ron, her family and friends.

Fleece & Shearing Preparation Workshop

Sunday 9th October 9am to 2pm at
Coolaroo, Woodlands Road Mittagong 2575 NSW

Presented by SCH Region of the Australian Alpaca Association

Inspired by the high quality in the alpaca cloth being produced by Alpaca Ultimate, due principally to the meticulous classing of each fleece as it comes off the animal at shearing by Merilyn Mathews and Penny Pittard, I have invited them to come and teach us their protocols and process.

Whilst buyers of fleece may differ in their classing specs and criteria, the emphasis of this workshop is to give participants the fundamental skill of recognising poor or medullated skirtings, and separating them from the saddles. The bottom line is that good classing will optimise your dollar return per woolclip, and ensure that only the best quality products are produced from your fleece.

Other trainers and speakers from a pool of expertise will individually assist each participant to understand and learn these skills.

A Successful Day At The Charles Ledger

The Charles Ledger Show this year was a very successful event…

The Moss Vale Showgrounds provides such a beautiful lush green country setting, it is a sight to see some 320 stunning alpacas spread around the grounds in various situations, being handled, groomed, walked, cuddled and shown, it was a visual delight for the many members of the public who came to see the Alpacas and enjoy a free camel ride, generously donated by the Sydney Coast and Highlands Region.

The rain held off for us and we had very chilly winds but the sun shone down on us most of the day.

I would like to thank our Judge Kylie Martin for an amazing effort, it was a very long day and she stood up beautifully and tirelessly, congratulations Kylie on a job well done!!

To all our entrants, thank you for helping our day to run smoothly…we hope you had a wonderful time, congratulations to all our ribbon winners and to our Supreme Champions Cedar House Mr Bojangles & Elysion Leilani.

I would like to thank the Market Stalls who braved the cold winds; we hope your day was successful.
